Njivice were first mentioned in a document of Prince Ivan Frankopan in 1474, even though, judging by some archaeological findings the village is much older. In the past Njivice were a small village, whose inhabitants were mostly fishermen surrounded by olive groves and forests. In 1930, the hotel Luka (today’s Adriatic) and Villa Dinka were built. That year had also been declared for the official start of tourism in Njivice. At the time, this small fishing village began to change into one of the strongest tourist resorts on the island, which today as well has a Blue Flag award. In Njivice you definitely won’t stay hungry, because by the sea, especially at the small harbor, which represents the center, you can find 9 restaurants with a great variety of gastronomic delights with a spectacular Mediterranean touch. On the left and right side of the harbor, you can find the beach, as well as a few typical cafés and patisseries, who add that tourist beat to the seaside resort. In the harbor, the tourist attention certainly receives an interesting statue of a fisherman who sews a torn fishing net.
